Private Jet from Miami to St. Barths

St. Barths is roughly 1,200 miles from Miami, but no jet can land there directly. Gustaf III Airport has one of the Caribbean's shortest runways, ending at the beach in St. Jean, and only pilots with a special local qualification may fly small turboprops into it. Expect a total journey of three to four hours including the connection.

The usual plan is a midsize or super-midsize jet, such as a Citation Latitude or Challenger 350, nonstop from Miami to Princess Juliana (SXM) in St. Maarten. From there a pre-booked Twin Otter, Pilatus PC-12 or Tradewind shuttle covers the final ten minutes. Some travelers connect through Antigua or St. Thomas instead.

Miami International (MIA) is often the most practical departure when guests are arriving from Europe or South America and want a single-airport handoff. Locals generally prefer Opa-Locka (OPF) for its quicker access.

At SXM, the private handler escorts you through Dutch-side formalities and directly to the connecting aircraft, with luggage transferred planeside. St. Barths is French territory, so the arrival is processed at Gustaf III. Return flights clear U.S. customs back in Florida.

The island's peak is the holiday period through New Year's Eve, when yachts crowd Gustavia and every slot on the island-hopper is spoken for weeks ahead. February through April remains glamorous with better availability. Many villas close in September and October.
